Club drugs are drugs which are used under the garb of recreation and are very widely and commonly used in the clubbing circuit. During the early part of the 1980’s; these club drugs were very popular in dance clubs, discos and parties; post which they were in very high demand and widely consumed in rave parties. These club drugs are considered to be natural anti depressant by the users and tend to propel the consumers into a different state of mind which is considered bliss. Such users tend to use these so called natural anti depressants to wear away from their life’s miseries and problems.

Use of these club drugs actually began in rave parties which started in England and with the gradual gaining of popularity the rave party circuit spread to other countries of the world including the United States.
The consumption of these presumably natural anti depressant drugs or the club drugs leads to altering of brain normal functioning and the consumers generally use these in abundance in night long dance parties or the rave parties. Drugs like ‘Ecstasy’, ‘LSD’, ‘Cocaine’, ‘2C-B’ etc. are the most commonly used club drugs in the clubbing circuit and regular & excessive use of these drugs leads to addiction and threat to the consumer’s life.

Of late there has been an increase in usage trend of these natural anti depressant; wherein the consumption in social gatherings apart from rave parties or night clubs has seen a drastic rise. Most of the rave parties or night clubs where the use of club drugs is in abundance are primarily frequented by young adults or adolescents; but with the rise in the use of these in the social circuit; the consumer profile of these natural anti depressants is not just restricted to the young adults section only. There have been numerous cases reported wherein deaths due to excess use of these club drugs has been reported in adults as well.
Club Drugs At Parties
One of the reasons why club drugs have gained so much popularity in the social circle these days is the presumed fact that using these is associated with being belonging to a niche group of society and considered cool in layman’s terms. The social do’s or parties where these so called natural anti depressants are used and craved for and being seen in such parties is considered as being “arrived” in the society.
Keeping in view the increasing popularity of the club drugs and their abundant use; it is becoming increasingly important to spread the awareness about the ill effects that these have on the consumers. There is no doubt that they provide a momentary blissful state of mind upon use but the long terms ill effects and quite serious and can be very harmful. There are lots of organizations who have started spreading the word around about the ill effect that these drugs do have. Numerous help lines and rehab centres are now operating to control and counter this menace; increased use of which threatens to assume alarming proportions.
